Technology has allowed us to make connections with the larger world possible in ways that were never before available. Our objective is to encourage and facilitate the responsible and informed use of technology tools, allowing students greater freedom of expression in their thoughts, study, and aspirations. By graduation, students will be comfortable using existing mainstream technologies, and have the confidence to evaluate new systems that can assist their academic pursuits and life interests. Curriculum NotesIn the younger grades, the focus is on learning through selected educational uses by faculty, and interactive programs and research with strong guidance. Computer use and the start of keyboarding skills in recognition of the computer as a research, writing, and communication tool is gradually introduced to enhance the curriculum. Middle grade use of technology employs keyboarding success, and the learning of traditional word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs as well as many new programs and tools that can be integrated into successful class work collaboration, research papers, and projects. A computer-based elective is offered to High School students, giving flexible support to their interests. Students have had the opportunity to advance at their own pace through the introduction of a computer language, work with hardware purchase and computer assembly, and do in-depth work with more complex graphics, operating systems, networking, robotics, or web-based programming.
