The Beginning of Middle SchoolFifth grade marks another transition in a student’s life: middle school. Within Sant Bani we have both a “middle school” (grades 5-8) and another transitional division of “junior high” (grades 7-8). In fifth grade the homeroom teacher is Ann Littlefield who teaches Language Arts. However, all of the teachers work together to integrate the curriculum so that students see all sides of the issue whether it be in U.S. History with Criag Jaster, Math with Kiersten Wilkinson, or Science with Robert Schongalla. Fifth graders have new opportunities to participate in sports and other extra-curricular activities. Music, art and physical education are important parts of the day for fifth grade. Many of the fifth grade teachers also teach in the Junior High and the High School divisions and will be with the students throughout their school lives.
