Daily ScheduleFor third through twelfth graders, each day begins with Morning Session followed by seven periods: six academic and a final period devoted to the arts.
Morning Session is a time for the school community to gather together for announcements, a presentation of some kind (usually reading from a story), and a moment of quiet “before we begin our busy day.”
While the younger grades were focused on skill building, third grade begins the transition to applying those skills to learn new knowledge. Teacher, Sam Conkling, is the main teacher for most subjects—language arts, math, and science—but the third grade begins the gradual transition to more “specialized” teachers with Craig Jaster teaching Social Studies. Art, music, physical education and handwriting round out the curriculum, and third grade students mix with older students (3-12) during Art Blocks.
